Doctors gave him six months to live, but under the meticulous care of her mother, he defied the odds, living two more precious years. Those years, however, came at a cost, as the emotional and physical toll on her mother became evident.
“She showed me what true care looks like,” Julie recalls. “It’s not just about treating a condition—it’s about treating the person, their dignity, and their hope.”
An Entrepreneurial Journey
Inspired by her mother’s example, Julie obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Wichita State University. Her academic journey provided her with a solid foundation in environmental health and safety, a passion she further demonstrated by running for mayor. Her campaign focused on protecting public health and creating safer environments for her community—a testament to her vision of care extending beyond individuals to entire populations.
While her mayoral bid reflected her drive to make systemic change, her entrepreneurial spirit found its home in the deeply personal mission of Just a Little. Named to reflect the belief that even the smallest acts of care can make a profound difference, the agency prioritizes exceptional customer service, a value Julie honed in her early years working in fast food and retail.
“I learned a lot about people during those jobs,” she says. “What I took away is that the smallest gestures—a smile, patience, understanding—can change someone’s day. In home health, that same principle applies but on a much larger scale.”
